Evelyn A. Ruud, 93, born March 12, 1922, left this life on October 15, 2015. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Maynard Ruud in March 1987. Born Evelyn Alberta Bartram in Sumner, Illinois, she was the eldest child of Harry E. and Ethel McVickar Bartram.
Surviving her are sisters Jean McCoy of Quincy, IL, and Leora Leihser of Greenville, IL, and brother John (Elaine) Bartram of Adrian, MI; sister-in-law Nora (Roy) Ruud of Spooner, WI; daughters Marilyn (Jim) Peters of Diamond Bar, CA, and Susan (Ted) Antrim of Arlington Heights; grandchildren Christine (Tony) Burt, Mike (Amy Carpenter) Peters, Russell (Calen) Antrim, Lauren Antrim, and Sarah (Joe Enzenbacher) Antrim; as well as 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Bartram, Verna (Gail) Bennett, and brother Frank (Ann) Bartram.
Evelyn loved her family and friends, enjoyed traveling, was an avid crossword puzzler, taught all the little girls in the family to knit, volunteered at the Mt. Prospect Library, participated in the Mt. Prospect Women’s Club, took pleasure in a good sale, was known as the family “baby whisperer” when no one else could calm a distraught child, and enjoyed excellent health until cancer took her from all who loved her.
Private funeral services were held on October 19, 2015, at Memory Gardens in Arlington Heights.
